Entry Information and Rules

SDAS races are open to all who wish to come along and join in the fun! You don’t technically have to be a member to enter any of our races, however, being a member will give you the benefit of being able to compete in our Championship Race Series, receive our members discounted rate and also get a fabulous 10% discount from some very well known Sled Dog Outfitters….(details available on membership tab)

Each event you enter you must provide us with your Entry Form, Dog Identification/Chip form and if entering as a non-member an up to date copy of your insurance. Our entry forms are generic for our events, just ensure you download the form that’s posted on our website via Facebook when entry to that particular event opens.

SDAS Members are allocated a BIB/Race Number when joining as per our rules. This number will be retained unless Membership expires. Members are responsible for their own BIB/Race number and can provide their own printed BIBS/Tops etc so long as its clear and visible to the Finish Timer.

Non SDAS members entering a race will be allocated and provided a BIB/Race number on that weekend. Please ensure it is worn so that its clear and visible to the finish timer.

These BIB/Race numbers are an essential part of how our timing system works. These numbers are required to be visibly worn as they allow our finish timer to record your finish time once you’ve broken the finish beam.

Mushers/Competitors Briefings are held in the AM of a race morning (time will vary depending on when race will start but will always be published prior to the event). Attendance to these briefings are mandatory. Trail distance(s) and terrains are discussed,  job roles are confirmed with attendance, questions/queries are discussed/answered, printed non members BIB/Race numbers are handed out and any problems/issues that may have arisen are sorted all before the race begins.

Marshal duties are mandatory. They are a requirement by Forestry and Land Scotland as well as a requirement by our event insurance on private land to ensure our race permit complies with all legislation ensuring the safety of our competitors and the general public. If we don’t have them, we can’t race. A set of printed instructions on each marshal job role and what your asked to do within this role will be provided in each marshal bag and will also be on display at the briefing point of the race site. If there are any questions regarding marshal duties and what they entail please see any one of the SDAS Committee

SDAS run 1 x 2 days races – race day times combined with a Presentation on Sunday. Teams must remain unaltered and compete both days to be eligible for points/positions/podium placings
